Niche User:I would definitely choose to live in Naperville, IL again. This suburb is an amazing place to grow up in, no where in Naperville is run down, almost every neighborhood is well kept. Stores, shops, restaurants and movie theaters are all close by. Downtown Naperville is a gorgeous area with everything you could imagine, nail places, boutiques, food places, book stores, antique stores and many more. Their school system is also impeccable, my high school has a Grammy award for education and it is a Blue Ribbon school. All of the high schools around me are fantastic as well. This town is a fantastic family oriented place to live and an amazing place to raise children.

Parent:Schools are excellent in this area. That was the prime reason to move in. But we pay the cost - cost of living very high, property prices very high and property taxes very high.

Niche User:Surrounding Chicago can often be mistaken as a crime-filled or just full of "northshore kids", that is, teenagers who are very rich and don't really know the value of the dollar. Living in the Northwest suburbs, however, doesn't involve either. Yes, there are very wealthy families and no place is secure from crime but as everyday life goes, I feel safe and not judged by my economic status. The education here is fantastic, with Stevenson High School ranking #2 in the country. The school offers a lot of diversity and the students are extremely open-minded. This carries out to living here. Taxes may be high, but everything is always well kept--even snowstorms can't slow us down. The best suburb to live in...hands down.

Niche User:Libertyville is a wonderful small town, technically a village, with a beautiful downtown, and friendly people. They have a very active Main Street community that organizes many events throughout the year. There are parks, two public pools, Independence Gove Forest Preserve, which has a beach, too. We have the North Shore and Des Plaines River Trail Bike/walking paths running through Libertyville, too. The crime is practically non-existent. That involves non-residents being caught for DUI. LOVE living here.

Niche User:The crime in the area is not bad at all. Unfortunately because the area is wealthier it is a target, but crime does not seem to be much of an issue. There are plenty of police everywhere

Niche User:Great city. Excellent schools, park district, and library. Many things to do in town - restaurants, the Olympic athletic parks, movie theaters, the Streets of Woodfield, shopping, etc. We have it all. There is little need to go to Chicago or to other cities. Residents of other suburbs come to Schaumburg for shopping and entertainment. We are also very conveniently located near the Northwest Tollway and Route 355. We are also very close to O'hare. City. City government is well run with credit due to our Mayor Al Larson. Taxes are relatively low. The community is very safe although it gets a bad rap from thief, etc that occurs when a city is as large and diverse as it is and contains so much shopping, restaurants, etc. I would not live anywhere else.

    Oak Brook

    • Suburb of Chicago, IL
    • 9 reviews
Niche User:Oak Brook is the best of all worlds. Hundreds and hundreds of acres of open space, excellent sports facilities, world-class shopping, incredible range of employment opportunities. Close to major trauma hospital and excellent medical care. Superior public safety departments. NO real estate tax assessed for village operations - so we have an exceedingly low property tax bill. What are reported as high 'crime' numbers are from things like people passing bad checks, credit card fraud, etc at our huge shopping area. It does not impact the residents of the village.
