    Squirrel Hill South

    • Neighborhood in Pittsburgh, PA
    • 12 reviews
Current Resident:Squirrel Hill South (including Greenfield) is a lovely residential alcove just below the heart of Squirrel Hill. The atmosphere is friendly, but you can keep to yourself if you'd like. The real estate and renting opportunities are fairly plentiful and the prices are unbelievably low for being so close the city and so many amenities. Several of Pittsburgh's best parks are less than 2 miles away. The view of Downtown is one of the best the city has to offer. Several homey bars offering quality beer have established themselves, as well as a few great coffee shops.

Current Resident:Friendship is wonderful-- in the middle of everything, with the peacefulness of a secluded neighborhood. Because I live here, I can get away with not having a car—I walk to the grocery store, to work, to shops and restaurants, and have access to many different bus lines. The neighborhood is relatively safe-- my main concern is having packages stolen off the porch, which thankfully has not happened to me yet. I know a lot of other young professionals who have moved over to this neighborhood in the past year and really love it. Walking down Friendship avenue at sunset is the absolute best!!

Current Resident:Greenfield is a good neighborhood for first-time homebuyers and young families. It's relatively cheap, safe, and quiet. The neighborhood is primarily residential with mostly single family houses. The location is great - close to Schenley Park, Oakland, Squirrel Hill, Southside, Waterfront, and 376 and also an easy commute to downtown. The main drawback is that there isn't a lot going on within the neighborhood in terms of restaurants or nightlife, other than Hough's bar.

    Highland Park

    • Neighborhood in Pittsburgh, PA
    • 7 reviews
Current Resident:Highland Park is a very welcoming neighborhood. The park itself is heavily used for recreation by many people. There is a small downtown area on Bryant Street with several good restaurants, a market and a pub. While there are some crime issues (especially cars being broken into), the area generally feels safe.

    South Oakland

    • Neighborhood in Pittsburgh, PA
    • 11 reviews
Current Resident:Oh, Oakland! The love and hate students have for you. Primarily occupied by the students of University of Pittsburgh Oakland offers all the things a University student needs and wants. Local grocery store, restaurants with amazing student deals, bars, liquor stores, pizza bars, and even a Pamela's Breakfast! Loved by Obama himself! Oakland - where history has been made. Appearances of Donald Trump, Obama, Joe Biden, Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton and great legends Teddy Roosevelt, Babe Ruth and so many more. Oakland probably the best place in all of Pittsburgh to experience the life of a University College Student.

    South Side Flats

    • Neighborhood in Pittsburgh, PA
    • 16 reviews
Niche User:Pittsburgh is an awesome city that is often underrated. It's an extremely young city, with many colleges and schools in the immediate area. You can always find things to do whether it be doing outdoor activities in the parks, checking out the bar and restaurant scene, attending one of the many Pittsburgh sporting events, or exploring the city and appreciating all the art and culture it has to offer. If I could do it all over again, I would absolutely live here again. I rank this city an 8/10 compared to all the other big cities like NYC, Chicago, Los Angeles, etc.

Niche User:My overall experience in this area is great. It is a very cultural place because of all of the beautiful churches and the Italian influence of the Italian members of the community. The atmosphere is warm, as all the neighbors I have met here are very friendly. I would definitely choose to live here again if I could do it over again. This area is one of the best places that

I have ever lived, not only because of the culture and friendly residents, but also because of the convenient local stores and restaurants. I see this area's future as being bright because more people are constantly moving here and opening new restaurants and businesses.

    Duquesne Heights

    • Neighborhood in Pittsburgh, PA
    • 3 reviews
Niche User:Pittsburgh is a place I feel safe in. The overall atmospheres are great and I get to meet new people through my daily public transit on the inclines about everyday. I am never under or overwhelmed. Pittsburgh hosts several great events like annual festivals that are cool to check out and things like the Great Race which I try but usually fail at. For people born in the city and that live in the city they know how to get around pretty easily avoiding a lot of the traffic, when there even is any.

    East Liberty

    • Neighborhood in Pittsburgh, PA
    • 3 reviews
Niche User:The specific mini-neighborhood I live in is called Friendship. It is seriously the best neighborhood to live in, because it's like a little suburb right in the middle of the city. There's a little park, two private schools, a lot of community happenings. The location itself cannot be better- we are directly by some of the hottest spots in Pittsburgh right now: Lawrenceville to the northwest, Bloomfield to the west, Shadyside directly south, and the East End directly... east! We have access to some of the nicest grocery stores, boutiques, restaurants, you name it, all within minutes of walking. It's a lovely neighborhood. I moved out of this neighborhood a couple of years ago, and regretted it horribly, so my fiance and I moved back this summer. I don't plan on leaving until I move out of this state altogether.
