    Memorial

    • Neighborhood in Houston, TX
    • 69 reviews
Current Resident:The Memorial area is very nice. While it is an expensive area, there are still areas that are affordable for middle class families. You get the big trees and yards, while being in the city. The schools in the area are highly ranked academically. The only place I have lived so far that I feel safe at any time of day or night. There is also police patrol through each subdivision day and night. There are always people walking and are always friendly. It is very convenient to major freeways and parts of town. Overall, safety is the biggest plus!

    Kingwood Area

    • Neighborhood in Houston, TX
    • 151 reviews
Current Resident:Love Kingwood! It is a little costly and there's not much beyond food and some local shops which is why I only give it 4 out of 5 stars. Kingwood is a great neighborhood; the trails, which many people use, are beautiful, it is safe for children and family friendly, it is clean, and it is a close nit neighborhood. Schools are usually high ranking

    Clear Lake

    • Neighborhood in Houston, TX
    • 100 reviews
Current Resident:Clear Lake City has all of the amenities of a larger city, but is small & inviting, plus we have a large lake. We have the new Baybrook mall expansion that mimics the Houston Galleria. We have U of H Clear Lake Campus. Family friendly neighborhoods with an Excellent/Outstanding rated school district. One downfall is the freeway construction and traffic to get here, but once you're here, you have no reason to leave!

Niche User:This area has been a great place to grow up. It's secure, has good schools, and access to a great public park for kids. The Braes Bayou hike/bike trail is also accessible. It has a wide variety of stores and restaurants so you don't have to go far for most of your needs, and there are many good physicians for adults and kids in the area. The Metro bus line also runs through this neighborhood, and there is a park-and-ride is nearby.

    Braeswood

    • Neighborhood in Houston, TX
    • 13 reviews
Niche User:It's a very diverse community. There seems to be a pretty even ratio of families to singles and professionals. If you need anything, chances are it's close by. From the medical center, which houses some of the best doctors in the country, to Rice Village, where all the young adults converge. There's always plenty to do in West U. Need to go shopping, what a better place than the Galleria. And don't forget to check out Upper Kirby, you'll find some wonderful restaurants. It's a lively, yet quiet place to live. Crime rates seem to continue to go down. Schools are working their way up. And everyone is nice to their neighbors. You'll see tons of people jogging or walking their dogs in the mornings and evenings. There's an amazing dog park nearby, especially for big dogs as it is a larger quarter mile run with a small pond for them to splash in. The little dogs have a separate area too, looks the same is just a much shorter run. They also have a spot to wash your pup off after all that play time. It's just a great community and there's always stuff to do, and you'll find everything you need in a 5 mile radius.

    Eldridge / West Oaks

    • Neighborhood in Houston, TX
    • 46 reviews
Niche User:The area where I currently reside is a luxurious place that is cool, calm, and collected. With there being a mall across the street from my home makes it safe and convenient to walk across and explore the wonderful venture established. Moreover there is many food restaurants like Red Lobster, Olive Garden, and Dunkin Donuts fairly close by to my pleasure. To sum it all up this area would be my residency when I buy my first home in the future. Yet I would not rank this area compared to others in the U.S because I simply have not visited or experience living in those areas.

Niche User:The atmosphere in this neighborhood is quiet. They make some noise every now and then when it's a party of some sort is going on, but that's about it. It's a college neighborhood because it's located between two universities. But overall it's cool.

Afton Oaks / River Oaks Area

    • Neighborhood in Houston, TX
    • 7 reviews
Nearby Resident:Lived in The Heights around a bunch of Lawyers. There just aren't many criminals that mess with there possible defense attorney! The area has a lot of single garage apartment renters paying $1000 for a 1 bedroom. We got robbed which was upsetting. But I rollerbladed alone all over the area Day & Night without incident & felt pretty safe. Great flat smooth roads to rollerblade on. This area also managed to maintain power during & after a couple of Hurricanes. The bar scene in the Heights is extremely kind to single women & more typical of Texas than the more religious areas of Houston. Lots of young married & young single professionals in the area. Probably have moved here permanently if my housemate was not psycho.

    Greenway / Upper Kirby Area

    • Neighborhood in Houston, TX
    • 10 reviews
Current Resident:The Greenway/ Upper Kirby is one of the best jewels in Houston TX. Conveniently located 7 minutes away from the Galleria, 12 minutes away from NRG stadium and 10 minutes away from Midtown, this area is great if you are traveling or if you want to live here. One of the peculiarities and amenities is that despite being close to it all, you actually feel far enough from the overwhelming galleria trafic. Moreover, there are shops, restaurants, theaters, and of course..plenty of Starbucks around.

    Willowbrook

    • Neighborhood in Houston, TX
    • 21 reviews
Current Resident:I have lived in the area for around 4 years now. Love how the schools are in close proximity to home; no more than a 5 minute drive. The movies, mall, and places to eat are also extremely close and the neighborhood are very family orientated. I would say the one down side to living out here is the commute, especially if you are going into downtown area. On a good day with good traffic, the drive is around 35-40 minutes. However, if you are leaving during traffic hour, expect to be sitting in your car for at least an hour.
