I appreciate where I grew up and the environment around me. It taught me a lot about people and how to work hard for what I want. It was a humble upbringing as well as a safe one. More and more frequently though, drugs and poverty are becoming a huge problem in my area.
Sometimes I do wish I could have lived in a big city with more opportunities; somewhere where not everyone knows your name and what you did last week. It would be cool to be able to walk to work and walk down the street to get coffee, etc.

Living in the village of Rio Grande is exactly how it sounds for the word village... small and quaint. While there is a good variety of restaurants, ranging from well known names like McDonald's and Subway to smaller yet delicious local eateries, there is very little else to do here. There are two gas stations and a Family Dollar where you can stop to get some of the essentials, but other than that the nearest retail and grocery stores are about a ten to twenty minute driving distance away. The quality of the places here is good and it's a nice, quiet place to live, but there's definitely not a lot of active things to do except for things at the University of Rio Grande and the original Bob Evan's Farms (where the Farm Festival takes place annually) which is mainly what we're known for.
A beautiful place to live, although there aren't many jobs for people once you get here. I've noticed a significant decline in the amount of jobs over the past 5 years.
