I starting coming in and out of Quinlan and the surrounding community in 2021 when I invested in a small business in the area - BoldBox Storage on Hwy 276. I've spent a lot of time interacting with local residents and businesses. This is really a great up and coming area. All the folks are nice and friendly. The real estate is still affordable compared to other parts of the metroplex. Yes there is a stigma associated with the area but you need to look past it because in my opinion this is a great area to live with easy access to the rest of DFW
Unquestionably, the Quinlan countryside with its gorgeous pastures, beautiful greenbelts and GREAT bass fishing in Lake Tawakoni is fantastic. The thing I love the most is the small-town lifestyle where everyone knows everyone else. The downside is that it's not a very diverse community and is slow to open up to strangers or newcomers. The worst part is that there are still very small remnants of white supremacists in some of the more low-income areas of the town. Not all (not even the majority) of those who live here are that way; in fact, most are kind, generous and thoughtful human beings who would bend over backwards to help their friends and neighbors. Those are the people and the aspect of this small-town community that I appreciate the most. If I could change anything about Quinlan, it would be to make it more accepting of diversity, have better job opportunities for everyone and to have more available resources to help those in the community who are in need.
There is nothing to do at night, unless you would like to go to the only grocery store here Walmart, where you can see your high school classmates, or you can go to mcdonalds where you can also see people you see in high school. You can not go anywhere in the town except your own home, where you do see a classmate.
