If you guys are from the city or a person of color. DO NOT MOVE TO QUINCY, Illinois. Because the people in the town are extremely racist, uneducated, stupid, closed mind, no job opportunities for people of color, Intiled and there’s too much KARENS and plus fake people that live there. One of my worst experience living there for a years.
Do NOT move to Quincy. You will regret it. The city is corrupt and pockets federal and state dollars. This is obvious with its decaying infrastructure and streets and roads not maintained. Dodging potholes nearly everywhere. Ancestry seems towards German, who are rude, uneducated and uncivilized people. They do not want outsiders, especially if your from CA or TX. Closed minded hillbillies in this town. Also, houses are literally falling down because of crooks with no licenses and city do not pursue code enforcement. Quincy has many churches who are stuck up.
I have been in quincy since 1994 and since then i have seen extortion of the public from the city and county government thru fees and penalties that are dished out as officials please."Come on vacation, leave on probation" is the common phrase used to describe quincy. If you want to live here, expect to be bullied by municipal authorities and extorted for every dime they can squeeze out of you.
Terrible place if you enjoy culture or entertainment. Great place if you like meth, heroine or getting shot.
As corrupt as it gets. The haves rule over the have nots. People are either nauseatingly conservative or disgustingly liberal with no in between. The mall is on its last breath. The mayor is a midget.
Not happy with it all. I hate the city and things around here are horrible. To expensive. If it wasn't for my kids wanting to go to school here i wouldn't stay
This is a small, rural town in the Midwest. If you are used to places with populations of greater than 100,000, this town will seem very small and almost quaint to you. The population is very homogeneous, something like 99.7% white. A great deal of these people have a high school education or less, and they act and write as you would expect. This being a more rural area, people tend to enjoy their time in the country, and activities such as hunting and farming. The Christian religion is also big and promoted in this town. If you like hunting, farming, country music, big loud diesel pick-ups with big tires, camouflage everything, and Jesus, then this is the town for you. If you have interests in higher education, a modern library system, parks, diversity, and more urban things like the theatre and the symphony, then you will be in hell here.
