Very Average. It's just your basic small country town. Everything around here is centered around the high school's football team. I moved here after high school, so there's not much feedback I can give on the school system. It's a very average place to live.

I like that Purvis is quiet, away from traffic, and cheaper cost of living than the nearest city (Hattiesburg). However, I do not feel safe so it is not worth the savings. There are many shady characters who live there because it's cheap. I have seen or smelled drugs several times and have suspected dog fights near my duplex. There is trash littered everywhere in Purvis because people allow their dogs to roam freely instead of keeping them inside or fenced in a backyard. The dogs knock over trashcans and trash blows around all over the roads. It isn't safe for the outdoor cat population because many of the dogs view cats as prey. I am not happy in Purvis and plan to move when my lease is up.
The small town of Purvis was home for me. Meeting new people was super easy. There are nightly gatherings that take place periodically and it is very safe. The Education system is very reliable and they put the safety of students above everything else.
