Providence is a small community nestled in the foothills of the Bear River Mountains adjacent to Logan. Known for established, eclectic neighborhoods with large lots, it is reminiscent of when people farmed and kept animals, which some people still do. The town is about 5 miles from Utah State University, but has a definite rural flavor. It is near Bear Mountain Ski resort; 15 miles from the Idaho border; 80 miles to Salt Lake City; and 40 miles to Ogden. The city installed fiber optic Internet and it is offered to residents for a reasonable fee. Living in Providence is basically living in Logan and that is where you will do most of your shopping, dining and recreation. Providence/Logan reminds me of a quintessential western ski/college town. They have the winter inversion problem like Salt Lake, but most days are crisp and sunny, although can be very snowy. In the summer the days can be hot but at night it generally cools to the 60s or 50s. All in all, a spectacular place to be.
Me and my wife have been living in providence while I attend Utah State University. My wife works at a Salon in Logan and our commutes are both less than 15 minutes during traffic. We love our neighbors and have found that Providence is very community minded. We are within 20 minutes of every food place you could want and we are in close proximity to the Providence, Logan, and Green Canyons. Several parks are speckled through Providence and it is a very nice place for kids and pets. We have loved it here.
Providence is a beautiful, quiet city tucked up against the mountains in Cache Valley with a beautiful view of the entire valley from some points. The people have a tradition of friendliness and community connection. With a country feel yet big city access, starry nights, brilliant sunny days, and recreation, cultural events, arts and volunteer and diversity accessible in every direction, it is the perfect adventure zone for the single person and vacation lifestyle family residence destination. Education is top notch and community events are stellar.
