I love Poway it is a very calm little suburb and its only a 30-40 min drive from the beach. There is not many things to do here though so you can get bored easily. The demographic consists of a lot of boomers and annoying republicans. The schools here are actually terrible especially Twin Peaks, Poway High, and Tierra Bonita. I personally did not have a good experience here because people weren’t really friendly towards me and caused me a lot of mental health issues. I also started to feel self conscious about my race. There is also a HUGE construction problem! It seems like it will never end. Always tons of traffic. I could come back in 4 years and they still won’t be finished.
I love the camaraderie in Poway! Everyone really cares about the city here and genuinely wants to keep it a nice place. People are always really kind to each other and really do keep in touch with those they make connections with. I love the school districts here, they do a great job of educating children in a safe and fun learning environment. People are also very much accepted here and love to speak their mind.
One thing I would change about Poway is how Poway is changing. There are developers that are coming here and trying to make a small town into a large town. They are taking a bit of the history and laid back feel of Poway and making it into a more modern fast paced place. It's sad to see and some of it is for the better, but I would like to see more of the history being preserved.

Throughout my life I have moved houses and states due to my dads job. Originally I was born in Phoenix Arizona where I endured the blazing heat for 11 years, later moving to Prescott Arizona where I experienced snowed. After living there for 4 years my dad was relocated to Poway California for work. My first impression of Poway was a small town where not very many kids lived. I started off the first day of school not knowing one person. As scary as that was I had to get out of my comfort zone and meet people. I was immediately hit with the kindness of many kids who were happy to take me in under their wing. I ran cross country that same year where I was able to navigate and learn all of Poway's terrain. I figured out there was a skatepark as well as great hiking and fishing spots including many more things. Poway was not only some new place that I had to live, instead it was a community that shares similar interests and through it all i have seen the beauty that Poway has to offer.
