I was born and raised in Poughkeepsie. I have always found it an interesting place to live. Located a few miles from my home sits the Samuel Morse Estate. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the beautiful grounds or take a tour inside. Speaking of beautiful grounds, the Vassar College campus is located here as well. I have been fortunate to enjoy many of the summer programs they offer such as the computer tech camp. Additionally, the campus is a fabulous place to take a walk or bike ride. If you get hungry, there are many different quaint restaurants to satisfy your hunger. Poughkeepsie has it all. From sushi to salads, juice bars and milk shakes, there are plenty options to choose from. If it's nightlife you enjoy, you can always take in a play or head out to a comedy show. Poughkeepsie also offers the "staples" such as bowling, movies, and sports centers. Come check it out for yourself!

Poughkeepsie has the longest pedestrian bridge in the world that spans the Hudson River. It is also home to Vassar College, Marist College, and the Culinary Institute of America. There are many paved bike trails and hiking trails. The negative is very high property taxes and mediocre schools obsessed with scores, low costs, and a strong union and draconian punishments. The arts and nightlife are very rural in style.
A pretty safe town. Unlike, the city of poughkeepsie, it's surrounded by safe schools, and neighborhoods, along with affordable stores and recreational centers. A great place to raise a familly.
