Affordable, convenient commuting, and diverse community, these are 3 highlights of Pottstown. The town has potential! My daughters are achieving, and have loved their experiences at the public and local Catholic schools. There will always be people who want to look down on town, but it is what you make of it. My children are happy, and we have been in town for 19 years. Housing prices are affordable, high achieving students are earning college scholarships, and we are close enough to Philly, Reading, Lancaster and Harrisburg.

It is somewhat family-friendly, and many job opportunities within the area. The public schools are not bad, I would recommend Owen J Roberts Middle and High School for a safe and friendly learning environment. I am a current resident of Pottstown, I have been living here for almost a year now. I would say that the safety is about average, as well as the diversity levels. The nightlife can be a bit unsafe, depending on the specific area, but you could say that about and area. There's usually a good amount of job opportunities, and there's almost always somebody looking if you are in need of employment options. I would rate my overall experience with Pottstown as average. This is because It's not anything special, but there's nothing too harsh to say about it on the flip side. After moving, I have adjusted just fine, and have been enjoying my overall experience.
From what I have seen, Pottstown has been on the rise over the past ten years, the economy in this town has began to see life as shopping centers, and new housing developments have appeared. The cost of living is relatively fair. I would not suggest sending your children to the public school. The curriculum in any bordering school district is better. As far as nightlife, phoenixville, which is right next door, has lots to do. If you are looking for a simple job, some of the biggest employers in the area include the Pottstown Hospital and the Philadelphia Premium Outlets. If you are commuting to the city it takes about an hour, given time of day + traffic. Very diverse population!
