I have lived in Poteau most of my life. The city has wonderful potential, and honestly it has been getting better over the years. The population is growing, there are new businesses, and the town is slowly turning into a city. Poteau is the largest town in the Leflore county, and the county seat. There is a drug problem, but that has been changing too. I have high hopes for Poteau.

I wish Poteau would get more restaurant varieties such as a chick-fil-a, Friday's, Texas Roadhouse, or a McAlester's Deli. More shopping centers would be a nice addition as well.
I like the college in town, Carl Albert State College! The town of Poteau, OK has a strong small town feel.
