My experience in Portsmouth, VA is unpleasant is due to one main reason, which is that the streets in Portsmouth are crime-ridden. The reason why the streets are crime-ridden in Portsmouth is that every day there a variety of criminal activities that are currently going about that is resulting in the people in Portsmouth either getting killed, abusing drugs, being abducted, etc. This is also causing children, no matter their age, to take part in the criminal activities that are taking place because they feel as though it's normal since so many people are doing it. Even though it appears as though Portsmouth is beyond help there is a way to help improve it which is to have a Neighborhood Watch Program. There are a lot of people such as myself that is tired of seeing all of this crime that is taking place and want to make a difference. By doing this we can decrease the crime rate and prevent youths from becoming part of the problem. This will help make Portsmouth truly beautiful.
There are good and bad parts in the town. The town gets a bad reputation, but I love the little neighborhood I bought a house in here in Portsmouth, VA!
I like Portsmouth. Portsmouth has a historical feel that makes locals and tourists have plenty of fun in the city. However, I would like to see the city public schools in Portsmouth have more STEAM programs, Reading Literacy programs, and music programs for students to succeed in their curriculum. Portsmouth Public Schools is the lowest, as far as SOL Test scores, in Hampton Roads. There has to be a change ASAP.
