I love this area because it is a fresh start for me. I'm a city slicker with a heart for the country, and both of those desires are able to be fulfilled by living here. I'm only an hour from Chicago, but camping and kayaking are in my back yard. I've met some amazing people, and reconnected to family I haven't seen since I was in diapers. The weather here is beautiful, and I'm far enough away from Taco Bell to not waste all my money! :)

I don't know too much about the crime rate, as I've only lived here for about a half of a month, but I know that we are close to Gary and Gary's crime rate is really bad! That scares me, because I wouldn't want to be affected by any gang activity leaking over from Gary or even Chicago. However, I personally haven't had any problems yet, and neither has my grandmother.
It's in the country, neighbors know each other but typically don't talk much. Perfect for pets to roam.
