Portage is a small town in Kalamazoo County that has mostly everything that you may want or need and if it doesn't, one the surrounding areas such as Grand Rapids, South Haven, and Detroit will! The main thing that I believe the town lacks but would benefit is more police. Although the town itself is quite safe, there is a shortage of police officers.
I love how Portage is a smaller town, meaning that the community is closely knit and the schools are small enough so I feel like I matter. Portage also has a lot of lakes, meaning endless summer time fun and a lot of fishing (an activity I enjoy). It can feel boring sometimes because its small, but I am proud of the town I live in!
