Port Townsend Reviews
CONSERVATIVE???? That is hilariously incorrect. Very much a lefty liberal community. Excellent member owned Food Co-op, excellent art scene, music, nature and library. Lots of access to organic food at the Farmer's Market too. Not diversified and an older community. Very warm, well educated community. Fabulous views and great access to beaches. Terrible place to find an affordable rental or well paying job. Wealth off retirees do well in this town especially if they like biking, golfing, music, art, writing, sailing, kayaking and hiking. Many festivals keep things lively.
We visited this beautiful town last week while traveling in our RV. We enjoyed a great meal at Doc's and a walk thru the historic district....beautiful buildings and homes! We decided to take a golf cart tour to see more and learn more about the area. My husband was wearing an Alabama crimson tide shirt and we were greeted by 2 others by the, " ugh, they are from Alabama" ....we shrugged it off BUT what was truly infuriating was the local who was doing our tour had to make a political dig when my husband ask a question about a sign on a home....we were quickly told " this is not a Trump friendly town".... he hadn't indicated anything about our political views...I don't care who your political affiliation is, someone in tourism, representing your town shouldn't make guest feel uncomfortable and bring politics into a tour!!
This site claims that Port Townsend is "conservative" - WOW! I live here and it is not. It is so liberal that the County's Democratic Party folded because they were too conservative by wanting Hillary. This community is further to the left than mainstream democrats.
