Pontoon Beach Reviews
The general atmosphere of Granite City Illinois is a working city. The distinct smell of the mill is always in the air, however most people living here barely recognize it anymore. I wouldn't chose to live here again in the future because I feel as though the crime rate is increasing, although I wouldn't change anything about where I grew up. For the future of Granite City, I see it going downhill due to the mill laying workers off. Without Granite City Steel in business, I predict Granite City will become a run-down town.
Most people are always willing to volunteer at the animal shelter, food drives, churches, and the hospital. There are many fundraisers for different organizations that usually have a good turn-out. People often stay in Granite for most of their lives, if not their entire life. This community is also extremely pet friendly.
The quality of houses depends on what area you are in. The closer you get to St. Louis, west, the worse the condition of the houses are. In the middle of Granite City, closer to Wilson Park, and some places on the out skirts of town, the houses are much nicer. The cost of houses are reasonably priced for the condition and area of the homes.
