Ponce is a historical city, where colonial architecture clashes with beautiful turn of the century facades! The breathtaking downtown 'Plaza de las Delicias' is a must-stop-spot, with lovely fountains, a magnificent cathedral, statues, and local bench sitting denizens eager to chat. The weather is perfect for jean shorts, a hat, and cute tank tops. 'La Guancha' boardwalk is a fun stop where you can loiter with lively local 'Ponceños', dance, eat and drink all night long. There you can departure to Caja de Muertos, a lovely small island with pristine waters, and white sands. Plaza del Caribe Mall is a really great place to shop its big-name, top-rate stores.

Ponce is a city located in the southwest coast of Puerto Rico. The city is recognized for its architecture throughout the city which leads to the main square, everything from classical to art deco with grand mansions from the beginning of the 20th century. The city is the birth place of many of the most famous local composers from Danza to Salsa and also boast a basketball team which has many NBA players on it's roster during the winter league. It also the home of Don Q Rums which are the stars in drinks such as Piña Coladas and mojitos. When visiting a must stop is the "helados chinos" located at the main square and on Sunday nights listen to the municipal band concert which is free. The city also boast the world recognized Ponce Art Museum with one of the largest collection of British art outside of the UK. Ponce has many beautiful stops for sight seeing which include the Serralles Castle, La Cruzeta, Parque de Bombas and La Guancha.
My experience living in Ponce as student is incredible, there's a lot of people you can meet and make new friends and also learn from one another. Also the people from Ponce they are really nice, friendly and love to help each other. When I first moved here and I started working in Ponce, a lot of people told me that in case that I needed something to let them know and they would give me a hand. For me it was something really nice and it meant so much for me because my family lived two hours away from this city and I was by myself. Its a placed you would love to visit or to lived not because of the beautiful architecture that is has but the way people are to each other.
