Polk City Reviews

I have grown up in Polk City and it is the perfect place to raise children. The public school system is great. There are a lot of opportunities for all kids (from help to kids that need extra help). The high school is great about letting the kids take college classes. All the college classes are paid for if the kids do it during the school year. That includes the textbooks. Polk City is 30 minutes away from Des Moines and Ames. It is 15 minutes away from Ankney which has a lot of job opportunities for younger and older kids, it also has a DMACC campus. There is not a lot of nightlife but Polk City does have four bars, so if you like to drink you will have options. Polk City has plenty of parks, some with play sets and one has a tennis court! Polk City is also growing which more food places and is a great place.
Polk City is a beautiful town set right next Saylorville Lake. There is easy access for all of your lake activities as well as numerous camp grounds to enjoy. Polk City is a fast growing town but still has that small town feel. Nestled just outside of Polk City is Big Creek Park and just across the Mile Long bridge is Jester Park. There are also multiple bike trails that lead into Ankeny, Des Moines, and numerous other towns. Polk City has a yearly summer Four Seasons Festival where people can go and celebrate our town we live in and love. Polk City is a great place to live and raise a family bar none!!
I have lived in Polk City for sixteen years, all of my high school years. I like that it has a small town feel, but it is still close to Des Moines and Ankeny where you can find almost anything to do. I would like to see more restaurants in Polk City, Iowa.
