I have been living in Pleasant Grove, Alabama for 26 years. I was born and raised here. The community is very quiet, serving as a quick commute downtown. The school system could use improvements, but private schools are a quality option.
Pleasant Grove is not designed to be a busy area, providing more of a safe haven of those seeking to escape the business of Birmingham. Crime is lower than more of your bigger towns and suburbs. The police department is great and do a phenomenal job of providing a sense of security. I am not familiar with much theft, but for those mostly affected was due to someone they knew.
It is true everyone knows everyone, which adds a small town feel. It's still a desirable area I would enjoy raising my family. Hopefully, this review helps.

I lived in Pleasant Grove for 49 years. The last 15 years, it went drastically downhill. Drugs found their way in, somewhere along the way parents stopped disciplining their kids, and crime grew. Local businesses are fast becoming the past and kids no longer are held accountable. When I was little, I knew anything I did would be reported to my parents and my behind wore out. That's gone. Nobody seems to care like that anymore. I've been gone 2 years now. No way will I go back
Pleasant Grove has always been a safe, youthful community. There would always be opportunities for the community to spread their knowledge outside of Pleasant Grove. I happened to be one of many people who never took that for granted. The people, relationships, and organizations I have encountered through Pleasant Grove have assisted in making me the person I am today. I believe as this community continues to grow greater things will come to, and out of, it. The biggest change I would like to see in Pleasant Grove is an expansion of their facilities. As someone who understands the importance of living a healthy lifestyle, I think a Pleasant Grove Recreational Center would be great for the city. If Pleasant Grove had a recreational center it would be beneficial for the growing generation and those who look after them.
