Placitas is barely a town. For what it is, as small as it is, it offers a lot. A great restaurant, decent grocery store, art gallery, above average cafe. It is between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, without the crime of the first or the snobbery of the second. Warm and welcoming neighbors. Extremely good value in housing. Gorgeous views. It is important that it is just off a major artery so getting anywhere is easy. In these times, also notable that the road into town is not on the way to somewhere else, so no traffic. We came here to offer nightlife but alas covid hit. This too shall pass.
There are wild horse running around and the community has taken the time to put signs up that worn people about them.
I USED TO LIVE IN PLACITAS BACK IN THE 70'S AND IT WAS A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE. MOST EVERYBODY THERE WERE RELATED, A TIGHT KNIT COMMUNITY. NEVER AMY CRIME. A QUITE PEACEFUL PLACE TO RAISE A FAMILY. I MARRIED A GIRL FROM THERE. EVEN THOUGH I NOW LIVE IN ALBUQUERQUE DUE TO MY PREVIOUS JOB AND CLOSER TO THE V A. STILL GO THERE TO REMEMBER THOSE PEACEFUL DAYS AND THE CHRISTMAS PROCESSION OF SINGING TO ALL THE NEIGHBORS, HAVING A GLASS OF WINE, PICOCHETOS AND SING THE MANANITAS TO THE RESIDENTS
I enjoyed it a lot more when there wasn't as many people!! Especially cause most new residents are from the East,or West coast which I don't personally get along with very well.. The couple of neat things is that we have a grocery store, a restaurant, and a bar with karaoke which is fun on the weekend's!! Also the views are amazing!!!!
