The Town of Pittsford is most highly noted for its thriving school district and outdoor scenery. Pittsford Mendon High School and Pittsford Sutherland High School, the two local high schools, have been nationally recognized for their academic and athletic success. The schools are also tied closely with the community, through sports and extracurricular engagement. In addition, New York State's historic Erie Canal runs directly through the town village, providing a scenic waterfront venue for biking, paddling, shopping, and more. Although, rising property taxes in the village have limited the success of small businesses in the long term. Despite this, community engagement in local government meetings has contributed to an overall sense of peace and unity within Pittsford. While residential areas have expanded and increased in number, outdoor preservation has been prioritized, resulting in a connected community that values the outdoors and natural landscape of the Finger Lakes Region.
My family moved to Pittsford the summer I was entering the third grade and that year I joined Girl Scouts. During my time as a Girl Scout I was selling Girl Scout cookies in my neighborhood and this is when I meet this amazing elderly women and her dog. Mrs. Hensel asked if I would like to walk and play with her dog, Dottie everyday after school. I said yes! Mrs. Hensel was an elderly women so I did as much as I could to help her. I did some chores around the house, and when I received my drivers license I drove her and Dottie to vet appointments and to the grocery store. Sadly, when I was a junior in high school Mrs. Hensel passed away. My family took in Dottie to be apart of our family. Living in Pittsford has changed my life. I joined Girl Scouts and did great things for my community. I meet an amazing women who was apart of my life for many years and will continue to be apart of my life. Dottie turns 15 years old this April and every time I look at her I think of Mrs. Hensel.
Pittsford is a very nice family friendly calm suburb. Its a predominately white town with little to no diversity. One of our publics schools needs more diversity and when students bring serious problems to the staff they need to stop down playing it and ignroing it and do something to fix the problem. Its also very expensive to live in Pittsford. People are usally kind. There is no nightlife at all, butitsa. very safe town. There is also alot of rich stuck up people, also bullying and cyber bullying and racisism is a very big problem in our school district. Thatshowiwould overall rate my experience at Pittsford.
Pittsford is in Monroe County and is one of the best places to live in New York. Living in Pittsford offers residents a sparse suburban feel and most residents own their homes. In Pittsford there are a lot of coffee shops and parks.
