Pittsfield is a small city in mass that is looking to re-face itself and it’s community. The current average age for a resident is early to mid 40s, so life for young adults is average. The city has enormous potential.
I have lived here my whole life and I have always wanted to leave there is hardly anything to do if you are a teen.
There is almost nothing to do here nine months out of the year; it’s terrible! The street harassment is so much worse than any major city I’ve lived in (not just catcalling, violent language and homophobic slurs). On top of that the car break ins and home intruders that myself and roommates have experienced make it feel very unsafe. The few restaurants in the city that are open for dinner are mediocre at best, and housing is a little overpriced considering the quality of apartments. I actively warn friends away from moving to the area it’s so bad. This is not a good city for young professionals.
Pittsfield is a city in the heart of the Berkshires. It is known for its diverse community and ever-growing cultures. It offers over 5 elementary schools, two middle schools and three high schools. Some famous people are from Pittsfield including the CEO of Wayfair, Niraj Shah, and Elizabeth Banks, an actor well known for her role in the Hunger Games series. Overall, Pittsfield is a city where you can settle down and raise a family, all while enjoying the various shops and local restaurants.
I like Pittsfield because there are a lot of options for the Theater. It has a lot of options for the Arts.
Pittsfield is a city made up of kind, creative, dedicated people. It is a diverse city, and people are mostly blue collar and hard-working. The city has good restaurants and parks, as well as thriving theatre and performance events. I do wish the city had safer bike lanes (think Montreal, Canada). Affordable housing and homeless services are also issues to be improved upon. However, the police department is making admirable efforts in community policing.
Pittsfield has really gone down hill over the last several years. The crime rate has gone up, less and less people working, and a huge lack of jobs for people who want to make more than minimum wage.
PIttsfield is a weird place. Its like that weird aunt that no one wants to bring to thanksgiving but is still part of the Berkshire family so you have to invite her anyway
Pittsfield is a really closed-off town filled with the same people you've grown up with since kindergarten. While for some this is fun, for us it's hard to see the kids you grow up with turn into drug addicts or gang bangers. For us teenagers there isn't much to do unless you are into sports and if not you pretty much spend your time in the streets. You have different parts of this town that really show how different the social classes are. Someone can live in the suburbs and when you drive 2 minutes down the street, you enter the projects. There is no sense of community and the minorities stick together. Overall, Pittsfield has the potential to be great but the people in charge aren't thinking about the youth.
It has lots of nature to explore with beautiful mountains, hiking, cycling, and kayaking. There is a healthy living community who help connect people to local farms, fresh food, and mental well being. Unfortunately, there is a high crime and drug activity in the city.
It's a pretty average town, surprisingly pretty good schools. Not much to do for teens or YA, also few jobs for working citizens.
There is a variety of stores and outdoor areas, but I would like there to be more community events. There is a decent level of crime, too.
It’s not the best of places to be despite people constantly coming to the Berkshires. Our mall is dead, people are dying from the opioid crisis, and everyone pretends everything is fine. But the town isn’t on fire so I suppose it’s not that bad.
Pittsfield is a lovely city to visit, and the people are quite beautiful. There are fantastic local businesses that cater to all walks of life.
Pittsfield is a semi-average town that from the outside seems like it's crime ridden, but as you go in and explore, there's many little treasures everywhere. If you're somebody who enjoys hiking, or just exploring cool places around the city Pittsfield is for you.
Pittsfield is a small town in the middle of nowhere. Lots of hiking. Lots. Other than that, you're out of luck. It is a pretty place, but there is pretty much nothing to do within an hour of the place.
Small City with lots of potential. Needs to keep developing as place where small businesses can thrive.
