They are attempting to turn this city around & it is very slowly becoming nicer than when I moved here 10+ yrs ago. San Marco area tends to have the newer expensive homes, downtown & going towards Antioch tend to have older homes that have not been maintained. Crime is high. Homeless population is on the rise. It is a commuter town, so the majority of people super commute. Not any real job opportunities outside of chain restaurants/retail. Traffic is awful! Schools have low ratings. Parks are gross & not maintained. Not much going on, have to go over to the neighboring towns for events.
Pittsburg is very diverse. The community college, Los Medanos College, is great! Diverse student population with amazing professors and classes. Some areas of the city are not as nice with trash on the ground and homeless. Though overall I am enjoy living in Pittsburg.
Pittsburg has been improving in most aspects of everyday living here. City has some high-end neighborhoods, like San Marco and further up from Oak Hills and downtown Pittsburg is very cute. Real Estate is relatively affordable. Its more of a commuter town rather than having plenty of opportunities. City has to work on infrastructure to contain more people moving in and traffic is congested on HWY 4 almost always. Plenty of potential, but has to be developed wisely.
