Basically, if you don't have your own car in this area, you're out of luck.
Don't have much of an opinion. The representatives could be less conservative and the area as a whole less homophobic.
I have lived here my whole life. The lack of public transportation makes it hard to be in without a car. The weather is bipolar.
What attracts people to the area generally is Saint Joseph and the lake.
Five Guys Burger and Fries just opened in the area and it's been doing quite well. That, and Moe's Grill and Panera right next to it have been doing very well.
It is usually very pleasant.
Most of the restaurants are seasonal so they are not open all year.
The majority of the jobs in the area agricultural based and employment is needed but not so much enjoyed.
There is one convenient store (Dollar General), and the rest of the stores of locally owned.
Everything but winter in the area is quite pleasant. It can be humid in the summertime, but with winters as cold as they have been, it is definitely okay! The past few winters have been very harsh, and one would definitely need a good stock of winter clothing here.
For a while in the recession, jobs were hard to come by. There have been a few new business coming to the area as of late however so it seems that it is picking up.
In my area there is a good variety of restaurants -- recently, a Five Guys opened in town. You can easily find a fast food place nearly anywhere in town. Because I live in the country, there aren't really options for me unless I travel about ten to fifteen minutes away.
