The community in Pierre is great. It isn't a small town, but it still has some of the charm that you would associate with a small town. The landscape can be truly beautiful and if you live up on a hill you can get a good sunset every day. However, some of the neighborhoods feel dead because people spend so much time inside during the summer. Also, the grass (especially long grass) has parasites called chiggers in it. If you don't take precautions like washing your legs off you'll end up with little acid pools all over your legs.

Pierre is a very beautiful town, during the summer the community is alive and it is absolutely stunning. The community, however, is rather small so once the nice months are over your options for entertainment are very limited. It is a wonderful town to grow up in.
Beautiful place to live, work and play - right on the river! Camping, fishing, boating, swimming, sports, parks, etc.
