Phoenix is chock-full of culture and activities- especially for outdoor enthusiasts. The job market is booming and it is all too easy to find a good place to live at an affordable rate.

Beware of the drivers! People drive like crazy people here and accidents are no longer surprising. Most people don't even pay attention to them anymore, they are that common.

Some neighborhoods are rougher than others. Scottsdale is great if you have the income. Tempe is always bustling and Mesa is THE place to retire around Phoenix. North Phoenix is the best area for someone looking to save a few bucks on rent- but beware of cockroaches and bedbugs!

Phoenix has its ups and downs like any other place, but overall pretty good in my opinion! Its hot as hell in the summer, but 8 months out of the year, perfect! No snow to shovel, and close enough to snow if you want to visit. Large airport, nice (east valley) suburbs, decent outdoor activities (golf/hike/bike). Arcadia/Camelback-East/Encanto/pretty cool if you are young. Ahwatuckee/N. Phoenix pretty solid for families. West/South Phoenix= YIKES, ghetto. Don't expect downtown Phoenix to be like other major cities as far as nightlife, that revolves around Scottsdale/Tempe.
Phoenix is growing, growing, growing! There are some areas that used to be just desert but there are now thriving businesses. It's a great location for just about anything, if you want to go shopping there are multiple malls. If you want the "student life" Tempe and Mill Ave as well as Central are amazing places to find small coffee shops as well great restaurants and ice cream shops. If you want a taste of nature, there are A LOT of mountains in which you can hike, all of them are different in their difficulty levels. Such as as superstition and Camelback Mountain. If you want to escape the heat, then Flagstaff, AZ is only a 2-3 hour drive away, and you can enjoy some great forest areas as well as 70 degree weather! So it really does not surprise me that so many people are moving to Phoenix, because really, there is just about everything here, or a great central location to get where you want.
