It's a nice-sized city with a good bit of basic things to do. There's a Wal-Mart, and plenty of places to eat, like Huddle House, Sonic, Taco Bell, McDonald's, Subway, Hardee's, KFC, Wendy's, etc. There's also some local restaurants as well.
There's a handful of auto-repair shops, as well, so you should have somewhere to stop should you need it.
There's also places to shop, like Jerome Tank, Deanco Auction, GameStop, and a shopping center that includes Canal Place Cinema.
There's also a nice school, Neshoba Central. It has been rebuilt, and has a coffee shop.

On the downside, the traffic is absolute crap and you can regularly find a tweaking crack-head on the streets/sidewalks/in Wal-Mart.
As far as jobs, the most frequently available ones are part-time spots at Wal-Mart and convenience stores.

Philadelphia, Mississippi is a great place to live. It has great educational facilities, it is safe, there are many activities you can do, there are a lot of great restaurants to choose from, it is affordable, and there are a number of job opportunities being that it is a small city where everyone knows each other.
Philadelphia, Mississippi is a very small, friendly town. It is about 40-50 minutes North West of Meridian, Mississippi. There are excellent restaurants. Marty's Blue Club just opened on the town square. He has live music on the weekends and a great deal on lunch buffets during the week. There are two casinos, The Golden Moon and The Silver Star. There is Geyser Falls Water Park. Jerome Tank Season 2 Season is a discount variety outlet store that has the largest selection of silk floral arrangements in Mississippi. He also sells crafts, wedding supplies, fabric, clothing, fishing and hardware. Not to mention decorative concrete items for your lawn.
