Phelan is a great place to grow up. You can ride horses, quads, and motorcycles. Children are able to play outside and not worry about crime. It's the small town life in this area. You might live on a dirt road but you are able to be in the city within a 30 minute drives. Homes are big and on big lots with no close neighbors.
Phelan is a semi-small town, I am always around new people but there is a sense of community. It is a conservative town and full of caring people. I would recommend Phelan to any of those who wish to get away from a city life.
It is a small town in close range to schools. There are stores that are a short drive away. Depending on the area most houses are around two acres of land. It is close to the mountains, so if you like snow it is just a little bit away. There is also a place to ski and snowboard in the mountains. It can get pretty windy during the day and very chilly at night. If you want to get to bigger stores and places to eat out it is about half an hour to a bigger town. For a job that pays fairly well you might want to drive to one of the bigger towns as well.
There is not much to do in town. You have to drive 30 minutes to the nearest supercenters and malls. However, most of the people in town are fairly nice and helpful. It's definitely got that small town vibe where everyone knows everyone.
Phelan is an open city and does not feel crowded. You are able to enjoy life in the open spaces. Although we are in the desert, you can call this city your home.
Phelan is a quaint small town located in the high desert in Southern California that focuses on family. I raised my family here in this tight-knit town. Phelan has its own fire station, sheriff station, shops, & restaurants to mention a few things Phelan has to offer.
I moved in phelan in 2016 with my husband and our kids because we wanted open space a small town for my husband who is a disabled veteran that deals with depression from the war it has been a blessing for our family, and I would like to go back to school in the winter semester. I do have my associates but I need to finish my degrees to get into my bachelors in psychology.
Phelan in a peaceful yet baron place. Many parts of Phelan look as though a tornado had just came but also there are nice parts too. The marketplace is a little outdated but more and more newer stores are starting to arise.
Phelan is a nice rural town nestled in the mountains of Southern California. It is a quiet and peaceful area with spectacular views. It is a great place to live if you want to get away from fast paced city life. With that being said living here is not for the faint of heart. It is a big adjustment moving from the city to a rural town, as it lacks the amenities and convince that is found in bigger cities.
If you're looking for a quiet desert town without much going on, then Phelan is the right place to be. Most activities will be about a 45 minute drive away but at least you are away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There is a small variety of restaurants and gas stations but other than local football games, there isn't much to do. The weather is mostly dry, hot, and windy and the people tend to go about their own business.
I like this little town. It's where I met my husband, started a new chapter in my life and had my kids.
This town, overall, has a little to offer because it's not well-developed like many of the surrounding towns, but it has elementary and high school education opportunities as well as plenty of job opportunities at everything from fast food places and grocery stores to pharmacies and computer repair. It's a great place to live, but it can get boring for those that aren't used to this type of environment.
I love the quietness of Phelan. I have lived out here for over a year and its awesome living in BFE. I don't like the cold weather for sure, so I stay bundled up. I wish they would build more stores in town.
The streets here aren't very good
We have occasional earthquakes, but nothing too serious. Wildfires are pretty common at certain times in the year, and it's the desert, so it never rains.
I was able to find a job, but only because I had connections. Other than that you can work at McDonald's or drive half an hour to another town to work.
The main restaurant in Phelan is McDonald's. Other restaurants include subway, kfc/taco bell, and burger king. Besides that it's mostly mexican food.
