I moved to Perkasie about 4 years ago from another small-town close by. What I enjoy most about Perkasie is the quietness of neighborhoods and streets; you can enjoy the beautiful surrounding nature without the loudness from the hustle-and-bustle of most cities. The walking path that goes through town is a nice way to get in touch with the nature. Houses are fairly spread apart from one another, but still close enough to get to know your neighbors. The town itself is very much up-and-coming, with local breweries and restaurants opening all over. Perkasie is a great town for young couples looking for a safe, quiet place to call home and start a family. It's affordable, yet generally nice, clean and safe.
I grew up in a big house in Richboro & went to school w/other "rich kids". When I was around 23 yrs. old, I met my current husband. He grew up in Perkasie, a town I'd never heard of till I met him. I absolutely fell in love with it. I will never go back to Richboro/Holland...money is NOT everything. The people are completely different in Perkasie compared to the stuck up, shallow, fake people I was used to encountering my entire life in Richboro (not ALL, but MANY). We got our first apartment in Perkasie, had our daughter, then purchased our first house together-there was no wavering-it HAD to be in Perkasie. I have never been so happy to pull up to my dwelling- even in our 2BR apartment I was positively giddy pulling up to it every single day. I was, & am, just in love with the town. There is something special out here. The people here share a special bond. A magical place to raise your family. Lots of historic stuff- the old carousel, the covered bridge. I'll never leave!
Perkasie itself is a medium-sized town with different restaurants and small businesses within it. It has a good social life with dense neighborhoods and strong connections. The public school (Pennridge) is alright, it really is nothing special, it's medium-sized for our area, alright academics, good school spirit though.
If you live in Perkasie there is a lot to do in the surrounding area, your 10 minutes to a popular lake, 15 minutes from Doylestown (which is really popular for boutique stores and restaurants), 15 minutes from Quakertown (which has a lot of stores and other fun stuff to do), and around 45 minutes from Philadelphia.
Overall, Perkasie is a quiet town that is good for staying in, and is in a good location for people who like going out.
