Well, it's a small town so not everything is right there and close, but within about a 25 mile radius, you can definitely find everything you need. There's plenty of grocery stores and convenience stores as well as clothing stores such as Macy's, Kohl's, Victoria's Secret and more. There are plenty of family owned businesses here as well, giving a happy medium between big and independent companies. There are also plenty of auto stores and repair shops, restaurant options and entertainment places.

This is Michigan. You can expect just about any weather. But one thing is certain, winter seems to last forever. In addition, the winter can be super miserable. Wearing a winter coat and mittens is nowhere near enough. Heavy boots, a hat, insulated gloves, a scarf, and multiple layers is essential to surviving the cold days here. When the news says that a big snow storm is coming, you should prepare yourself for the worst. You never know exactly what you're getting and its better to be overprepared than underprepared.
Battle Creek doesn't have too much going on for late night options for going out. You have to venture to Marshall or Kalamazoo for more options. The options that it does have aren't mind-blowing but they are still decent. Some of the restaurants downtown are really good, but a little pricey. There isn't too much variety of restaurants within Battle Creek. You have your typical Applebee's and Buffalo Wild Wings but there aren't a lot of unique restaurants.
