Peekskill is a wonderful small "city" about an hour north of Manhattan. In the past 10+ years Peekskill has grown into a town that increasingly supports the arts, eclectic dining, local farms and businesses.

Peekskill truly shines with its commitment to music and the arts. There are at least 12 different music venues in a mile radius that hosts a variety of music styles. Peekskill also shows its support for the arts by various events each year such as the Peekskill Jazz and Blues Festival, the Hudson Exhibition and others.

Peekskill has an ever-growing restaurant community with a wide variety of culinary styles represented. Indian, New American, Mexican, Ecuadorian, Salvadorian, Japanese, Chinese, and Carribbean restaurants dot the city with a wide array of choices.

The town of Peekskill is dedicated to helping local farms and businesses by hosting a weekly Farmer's Market which features produce from local farms and many different vendors from the immediate area.

A small town with a big city feel. There are many current investments to transform the town into a destination river town. The riverfront features many community events and concerts. The shops and restaurants are easy to walk to but parking could improve. The farmers market is great addition to the town. The school system needs work. A few years back a teacher was accused of falsifying student records.
Peekskill has become an extremely lively area within Westchester County. There has been major improvements to increase commercial value within Peekskill but there are still troubles, it seems, with the school system. Although there are programs that are recently created to help engage the children living within Peekskill, I feel that there needs to be some increased funding and programs implemented particularly within the school system. I have worked with the youth of this town and find that there is enormous potential but a lacking of resources for this city. Also, there are only certain small areas of Peekskill that are popular dining area when coming as a visitor. I have always enjoyed visiting Peekskill and seeing what the community has to offer. The social service community within Peekskill is extremely close knit and are trying to improve the city with what they have.
