Pecan Acres Reviews
There is one major event in this area, an annual weekend long carnival-style fundraiser for the volunteer fire department. This event has been running for almost 30 years now. There is also a "Santa in the park," "annual chili cook off," and "community Thanksgiving dinner" put on every year at the fire department (the first two are smaller fund raisers, the latter is put on by local churches). These are the only events in the area other than VBS put on by the First Baptist church every year. No attractions whatsoever.
There's some recent construction in the area on the main highway that runs through the town, but nothing terrible. Many pedestrians walk the streets (there are no sidewalks) and some children often play in the streets. Even though most drivers do have regard for pedestrians, the pedestrians walk in the road and don't really care. There is no public transportation, and speeding is a frequent problem especially on the back roads. Roads have lots of potholes and some are gravel.
The local volunteer fire department does a fairly good job, although sometimes they require help from surrounding towns. There is no police department (there was at one time) and everyting that the police department would handle is directed to the county athourities. The roads are in bad shape, the library is very small, and the public works team is small and inexperienced. The local government has also delt with some recent corruption, and has a bad reputation in the town.
