Working in Pasadena
Based on employment rates, job and business growth, and cost of living.
Pasadena has working class folks and their families. It's not a "hip" town by any stretch, so don't be looking for those kinds of activities. If you want a low crime area, friendly neighbors, parades that run right through the neighborhood, children playing and shrieking, people jogging, walking their dogs, and the old fashioned ice cream man driving around, then Pasadena is the place you want to live!! Close to the bay, awesome seafood, 100 is right there for your easy commute, take the backroads to Baltimore or Annapolis! It is what it is, a nice, quiet (older) neighborhood where your neighbor might be a plumber, electrician, or work for NSA.
Pasadena is a very white, lower middle class neighborhood. We have lived here for over 15 years and the area continues to deteriorate. Many stores and restaurants have closed since we moved here and nothing that has moved in has succeeded. The area "night life" is limited strictly to saloons that are neither savory nor safe. I am glad we did not have to raise children here; quality education is most definitely NOT a priority here. We will be leaving soon and will not miss living here. In short: move elsewhere.
I have lived in Pasadena my entire life and I couldn't have asked for a better place to grow up. Through this experience, I have not only made long-lasting friendships, but because it is a small town I have also been able to learn about these friends families, where they have come from, and how they have contributed to Pasadena as a whole. As well as, being located on the Chesapeake Bay has endowed me with a knowledge most do not acquire, and that is that of the fragile ecosystem that we reside on. Growing up on the Bay has allowed me to learn about the effect I have on such an area and how I can help to lower the effect I bring to the area. It has been beneficial in many of the places I have been, and has changed the values I hold close to my core beliefs. I couldn't have asked for a more inclusive place to have grown and become the woman I am today.
