We moved here from Nashville, TN, and this town has been such an amazing change! Sidewalks are plentiful, schools are good, the neighborhood is safe, and people are generally educated and gainfully employed. The housing cost is rather high, but it's worth it for the above, and higher housing costs tend to limit the population to those who are educated and employed, or who have retired after a lifetime of employment, so it's the real estate prices that keep the area restricted to this middle class population. There is a cute little uptown area, though the restaurants here are generally mediocre and overpriced - we have only found a few that we really like (Oberweiss and Thalaiva). If I could change anything at all, I would bring in more restaurants and a Publix for grocery shopping.
Park Ridge is truly a safe city, very much so. I do not anxious about my own wellbeing due to others' actions; I even go run at midnight sometimes with no worries whatsoever. The schools are fantastic: Lincoln and Emerson middle schools, Maine South high school. These academic institutions have well-trained faculty with a multitude of resources to aid the students in prospering. There are plenty of food options, with markets like Mariano's and Whole Foods, and a variety of restaurants of different caliber.
The biggest downside is the colossal quantity of taxes that are needed to be payed, yet for what is offered by living here, such is understandable. Truly a great suburb.

Park Ridge is served by the Park Ridge-Niles School District 64, which has its headquarters in the Raymond E. Hendee Educational Service Center in Park Ridge.[14] Area middle schools include Lincoln Middle School and Emerson Middle School in Niles. At one point there were nine public K–6 elementary schools: Oakton, Madison, Edison, Merrill, Carpenter, Field, Franklin, Roosevelt, and Washington. Only the latter five remain today, and all are in Park Ridge.
The town is served by Maine Township High School District 207, which includes Maine South High School, and Maine East High School. Students who live in northern Park Ridge have the option of attending either Maine East or Maine South. Maine West High School is located to the west in Des Plaines. Maine North High School was a school in unincorporated Maine Township and part of Maine Township High School District 207. It closed in 1981 as the student population of Maine Township shrank.
