Mom and Pop Shop which houses some food and gas station is ok if you need just some milk and bread type items or gasoline. It's expensive so it is worth the drive (15 miles) to go into town and do main grocery shopping.

Another store about 4 miles from my house is a Hardware Store and Corner Store. The Hardware store is very nice and clean and supplies just about everything you need in terms of items for repairs, etc of your home. The Corner Store however is not one I'd shop at. It has always been dirty looking and ran down. I do give the new owners credit, they are trying to improve the looks of it.
We are average for crime and safety, considering we live in the country. Most people in this area know whom the "same" individuals are that tend to commit the crimes. Sheriff's department come when needed though it can take a while if they have no cruisers near by. They also are understaffed so it does take them a long time if they are busy on the "other side" of our county. Our neighbors tend to watch out for each other though there isn't a neighborhood watch group.
