Working in Palmer
The cutest little town you will ever see. While it looks small just by going down the main street many people who live in our valley live on the outskirts of town. We have all sorts of things to do, winter through summer. Hiking is probably the most popular activity and Hatchers Pass is within a 40-minute drive from most neighborhoods. We also have many good restaurants. Highly recommended anyone who loves a smaller community and adventure to come out to Palmer Alaska.
Palmer is a small community with beautiful Alaskan views and values. The tight-knit community can be great, but toxic as everyone knows everyone. In the summer, there are many activities and socializing. Winter is not as busy, but there are still local events, such as ice sculpting and local ice rinks to skate on. The food is all delicious. Many Palmer residents know of The Valley Hotel as being one of the towns best places to eat, while also being cheap and open 24/7. My parents are divorced, so every Christmas, my moms side of the family has the tradition of going to eat at The Valley Hotel early Christmas morning. Palmer is also spread out, meaning that while the community all knows one another, most still have the privacy of living far away from neighbors. Overall, Palmer is a great place to raise your children and live, but it's also great to get out of there for a while and explore the rest of the world.
Palmer is a great place to raise kids. Palmer is in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, which is one of the fastest-growing areas in the United States. There are various sized communities in the area and a second incorporated area, Wasilla. Palmer and the Mat-Su Borough are considered bedroom communities for Anchorage. Many residents commute to Anchorage for employment. We have many trails and local lakes to enjoy.
