My experience in Oxon Hill, MD is an overall good experience, but the area need improvement. The people here have very strong mindsets, and funny personalities. The metro transportation is easy to understand. At times it can be busy so it's good to get up early. For a better experience there are places farther out in the city and state. This includes what the city is known for the MGM Casino and the Tanger Outlet Mall. The jobs opportunities can be better with the pay rate and overall experience. The grocery stores need improvement with how they process foods. The community can upgrade on the littering and keep the neighborhood clean.
I absolutely love the time I spend in Oxon Hill, specifically in National Harbor. This area has become a nightlife destination over the last few decades. The National Harbor is a master planned development with a massive waterfront full of shopping, nightlife, restaurants, and other activities. The major destinations would likely be the Gaylord Resort which is situated on the water, MGM Resort & Casino, and the Tanger Outlets. On the waterfront there is a large ferris wheel, carousel, and screen where they sometimes play movies. There is also a large marina for renting boats, kayaks, and paddle boards. Highly recommend staying here, especially with kids as there is a lot to do and you're in close proximity to Alexandria and DC.
I love this area. We have many grocery stores, food places, and entertainment available. The transportation is reliable and the area is generally safe. It is a really diverse place to live outside the D.C. Area. I would say more support and funds are needed for this area's schools to make it the best.
