Owyhee Reviews

3 reviews
This area of Nevada is a beautiful place to live. There are mountains to go ride around in. Three beautiful reservoirs to fish. The residents are nice and polite to non residents. We have a tribally run grocery store, deli and an Ace hardware store. Two locally owned restaurants. There is a local school for Kindergarten through high school. A tribally run clinic. We have a wild land fire crew. There is a local head start. Local mail delivered to the post office. The Duck Valley Housing Authority runs the housing market. Overall this is a beautiful place to live and to visit.

Owyhee is a very isolated, small, rural community. It is a quiet place to live with mountains, lakes, and has aesthetic beauty. The town consists of a small downtown area with a K-12 combined school, a police department, clinic, a grocery store, 3 eateries, 1 motel, and a few public buildings. Owyhee straddles the Nevada/Idaho border and is home to the Shoshone-Paiute of the Duck Valley Indian Reservation. The overall population is under 3,000. Home-sites are scattered throughout the reservation. However, there is little to no available housing unless you work for the clinic or for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Job opportunities are hard to come by.
The landscape is beautiful. The lakes make it fun to do outdoor stuff and the mountains are fun. Everything is great. Most if not all people are great and they are super friendly.
