Orion Charter Township Reviews
Rating 3.74 out of 5 84 reviews
Orion Township is among many townships located in south eastern Michigan but is littered with many problems. The township board has continued to make decisions with questionable ethicalities. The housing rates are far to high considering the locale itself. While the parks are indeed nice, much of the greenspace in the township has been removed for uneccessary traffic accessories that slow down the productivity of everyone involved.
I grew up in Birmingham and have lived in Orion last 16 years. My third house in Orion and now live on lake Orion. It’s a hidden gem of all Detroit area. People are friendlier, schools great and beauty of area is unique. Has an up North feel to it, but within commuting distance. Great shopping nearby.
Orion Township is a nice place to live and raise a family. There are many lakes and outdoor green areas to hike, jog, picnic or just hang out. There is a great dog park to take your dog and acres of wooded county and state parks to explore. If you like an active lifestyle, there is plenty to do--and lots of opportunities for kids to get involved (baseball/softball, soccer, lacrosse, football/cheer, etc.) The schools are very good and the area has gotten a lot of new restaurants, brew pubs and bars in the last five years. There is a local art center and the community really comes together with some great local events every year, such as Dragon on the Lake, Fireworks/July 4 events, Lions Jubilee, etc. The downside is the commute to Detroit (or Southfield, West Bloomfield, etc.) can be long, especially with construction on I-75. Overall, it's a wonderful area--safe, fun and a great sense of community.
