Orinda is a dream of a town! We are Brooklynites and we have lived in some great cities, including: Miami, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver BC, Paris, Philadelphia, Boston and LA (meh on the last two) and Orinda became a perfect fit when we had to raise two kids. SF has many great aspects, but it became somewhat unfriendly for kids. We bit the bullet and moved to Lamorinda. All places are great, but Orinda is so ideal for us. Competitive schools (top notch), close to BART, close to Berkeley, SF and other great areas. Besides Brooklyn, it's been our favorite place to live!

What a lovely place to grow up. Quiet, safe, clean, fun activities, great weather. Of course there is no nightlife other than the local movie theatre--which a charming, historical gem!
Love orinda! Great place to live. While there is diversity lacking, it's close to Berkeley and Walnut Creek. Pretty good restaurants, very family friendly, and safe.
