While I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities and resources available through the well-funded schools, I am disappointed with how detached neighbors are. While fronting efforts to promote acceptance, behind closed doors and social media, students and adults in the community are judgemental and hateful. There is conditional support for those who conform to the community's expectations and most activities and events turn into a cruel competition.
Lovely atmosphere, and the people are incredibly friendly. Social justice is something that's important, and the whole community rallies together to bring about change.
Orinda has a very beautiful downtown. I like the schools, and the restaurants downtown are very nice. One thing I think should improve is the racism, homophobia, and sexism that is rampant in the school districts as well as in the city. BIPOC are constantly questioned because we look "suspicious" to them
