Working in Oregon
Small town, I grew up here, so I can definitely give an accurate review. Not much to do, but the town is quaint and is definitely growing. I went to school here and I must say, there is a enormous drug problem here. And it is not spoken about. It's a small town so there isn't much to do, which causes kids to get into trouble. The school really tries to keep kids in line but it's hard. I do not blame the school district but rather the parents and lack of responsibility. It's not too expensive to live here, rent is moderate, much cheaper than Madison! There is a great coffee shop(The Firefly) and wonderful local businesses(Maria's Pizza, Academy of Sound & Senor Peppers ). I do not live here any more, but frequently visit since my family lives here. Overall it is a good place to live. Nearby towns like Stoughton, Edgerton or Janesville are much much worse. If I had children I would choose this town over those ones for sure!
Oregon is a very family-friendly town. It has great schools, a grocery store, restaurants, awesome coffee shop, sports facilities, and a public pool. It's close to Madison for restaurants and things to do. People are friendly. Oregon is investing in improving it's library and services to the community and youth. Housing is growing, but expensive.
Great small-town feel while still close to a bigger city like Madison. Good public school system with lots of opportunities for kids to get involved in extracurricular activities like sports and the arts. Many desirable neighborhoods to choose from, many have lots of green space and parks.
