I found Orchard Park to be an excellent place to grow up. The public school was excellent as were the people in Orchard Park. Life here is steady and safe, an excellent place to start a family. Orchard Park is generally a wealthier suburb than the surrounding areas.
I moved here about 6 months ago to attend college. I am enjoying getting to know the area. Rents are high for a clean, well maintained and safe apartment. Sharing costs with a roommate has made it doable.
Job opportunities for a college student are good.
Everyone I have encountered have been friendly and welcoming.

Growing up as a person of color in a predominately white area is tough. The school system is great, but the people can be the opposite. There is always money invested in this town and not allocated to poorer or underdeveloped areas in the city of Buffalo, the "City of Good Neighbors". In this town many people feel as though nothing bad can happen and they choose to ignore things that are apparent and happening in society that are very important matters. Being a POC, everyone in this town knows of you and your family. They are always staring probably at the color of my skin, judging, making negative assumptions, and that is not a good feeling. Orchard Park has good people and people that want to fight the good fight, but not everyone chooses to show that. This town, I am sure, is like many other predominately white towns across America.
