Very family friendly and has a great community. The neighborhoods are calm and quiet, they're home to great people and come together at times to commemorate and make the community a comfortable place.

Opelousas is an amazing city in itself, but it's not anything that I'm looking for as far as community goes. If you have family here then you'll fit in pretty well, but if you don't then you're an outsider to everyone around you. The town isn't as presentable as it should be either, there is trash and graffiti everywhere. That does not lead to a good first impression.
Its a quite nice town. Its rough growing up here and being a single parent. You just have to make the best out of it. The people are friendly and they speak to everyone. It is just hard finding a job when you do not know a lot of people. I wish it was not like that because I would love to be working right now. So I can get everything that my boys need. I am just trying to make it and make sure my boys have a bring future ahead. They have an okay school system but some things can be better. It takes a village to raise a child and when you get involved with the right people it can definitely be an amazing experience. I just want everyone to experience opelousas and do not listen to all the stories because they have a lot going around. I know the news portray it to be a bad town but life is happening all around us. Some places just have events that happens.
