The Ooltewah-Collegedale area is a lovely and safe area nestled between Chattanooga and my hometown of Cleveland. Ooltewah is a very convenient place to live with quick access to all of the necessities — grocery stores, gas stations galore, and restaurants to die for. My favorite thing about Ooltewah is its diversity for such a small area. There is a phenomenal Korean restaurant in the area that I frequent, Indian food, Chinese, Italian, etc. Any type of cuisine is offered here! Ooltewah also offers a vast array of diversity of churches and denominations with a college tailored to Southern Adventists. While there isn't much night life to Ooltewah, there is a quaint village area with eateries and underground entertainment as well as a 15 minute drive to Chattanooga where there is an exquisite night life.
I grew up in the Ooltewah suburb of Chattanooga really in the East Brainerd area close to Apison and the GA border (Ringgold). When my family moved there from FL when the main road by our house had a four way stop and was mainly populated by pickup trucks headed the corner gas station. The same four way stop is now a populated intersection with a Publix being built on a corner that used to be all trees as far as the eye could see. Subdivisions are popping up everywhere and Gunbarrel, the main road of Hamilton Place Mall about 15 minutes from Ooltewah, gets a little busier every day. It's been a good town to grow up in and I've enjoyed watching the little town grow from a rural outskirt to a thriving sub-tropolis, so to speak. It's a relatively safe area of town and the public schools are some of the best in Hamilton county. It's a nice blend of suburban life while also not being far from rural TN or GA and the surrounding mountains. It's also about 30 minutes from downtown Chatt.
Growing up in Ooltewah was the perfect place in my opinion. Right off exit 11, you can find the hidden gems of its local business, food, and great schools. In Ooltewah, it is an easy drive to fun locations. This could be the lake only 20 minute drive off the interstate. Or drive 30 minutes to downtown Chattanooga.
