Oneida is a simple and quiet town at the entrance of the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area (BSFNRRA). This national park is a stunningly gorgeous recreational area with many activities to offer the outdoor enthusiast. Residents are just 20-30 minutes away from hiking, biking, horseback riding, white water rafting and camping in one of the nation's most beautiful areas.
The town of Oneida is underdeveloped and without a local economy. Limited options for food shopping, housing, jobs and activities. While there are a few leaders in the community pushing for development, progress is slow. I'd like to see more locally owned businesses and a better community food access.

Oneida is my hometown and is a great small town in upper East Tennessee on the Kentucky state line. The people are great and really care for each other, but there is nothing to do there. There is only one theater to watch movies and nothing to do like bowling, skating, etc. There's only one small workout gym and no fitness clubs, only a few fast-food places to eat, and nothing else. It's depressing and makes young people want to leave as soon as possible.
Oneida offers close community involvement. The community college there has amazing staff to help every student achieve success. The area is small but very welcoming and has a home atmosphere. Everyone is welcome here and it is a great place to raise kids.
