Onalaska is located at the Heart of Lake Livingston and is just like any old run-of-the-mill town. I've been in Onalaska my whole life so I pretty much know all the ins and outs of everything that goes on around here. The people here are pretty friendly for the most part, we have a few residential loons but what town doesn't? Our school district is the best in our area and it's been growing exponentially the past few years and it doesn’t seem to be stopping. About the town itself, there's nothing much to do around here besides swimming in the lake and going out to eat at one of the 6 restaurants within our borders. But there's no need to fear because Huntsville has everything and it's a short 30-45 minute drive so most of us just go there when we're bored. The community consists of lots of retirees because of our position with the lake so Halloween was always very bountiful. Overall, I love Onalaska and couldn't have chosen any better of a place to to grow up.
Onalaska is an island in the middle of Lake Livingston in Texas. I moved here 12 years ago for the schools and small town feel; still love it! There's not alot to do but Houston is only an hour away, so if I want to do anything, it's not far. The real estate is moderately priced, unless you want to live on the lake, then you will pay a pretty penny. Its a nice town with some amazing people. I do not regret moving here.
Onalaska is a very small town with quite a few residence looking to find a nice place by the lake, but most of these people are retired and just looking for a place to settle down. I would like onalaska to be more lively have a better community.
