Olympia is such a gem- you can truly find every kind of person here. It's full of creativity, quirkiness, and lots of good coffee shops. Everything you could need is always a short bike or bus ride away, and the local food options are endless and delicious. There's all sorts of parks and trails to spend time in the beautiful lush outdoors, and always events happening indoors downtown if that's more your style. There's just as many hot and sunny days as there are gray, rainy, dreary ones, so make sure to be ready to invest in a sunlight lamp!
The city is unique and accepting of all, and I highly recommend a visit to anyone heading towards the PNW. Olympia truly has something for everyone.

I have had an overall wonderful experience with Olympia! There are lots of great walking trails that are safe for my daughter and I to walk and bike ride. I would love to see Olympia to be more of a welcoming friendly place. I have come across some very rude and negative people. I think that if we can all get together and raise our positivity, it would help us out in the long run. One smile at a time.
I love it. East coast transplant, resident for 1 year. I see some complaints about safety on here, yes there are homeless people - but after moving here from a big city where safety was a real concern, Olympia has never felt unsafe for me. Olympia is beautiful and a great size. Plenty to see and do. I never get tired of seeing Mt Rainer on a clear day - centrally located to both Seattle and Oregon. Beautiful neighborhoods, friendly people, and if you live and work in Olympia - traffic is hardly ever an issue! Good size town. Not too small, not too big.
