I grew up in Olean and still visit family there regularly. I loved it! Everything is so much more convenient than in a big city. There are some awesome community events like the Santa Claus Lane parade and the Fourth of July fireworks. I would love to see Olean (and the surrounding areas) improve economically- then Olean would be just about perfect!

There is not very many things to do in Olean. Most of the buildings are rundown and show failed businesses. The best thing there is to do, is to walk around an empty mall with only about 5 overpriced stores in it. There is very little job opportunities, since most of the businesses are family owned, or fast food.
Olean is not like other big cities where there are a lot of things to do, but most of the people here are great. Olean, like other cities has rough communities and people who are less than hospitable but overall the people really do care and will help a stranger in a pinch.
