Cannot quite see how the negative reviews are helpful, but what else is new! Lived in OT for >15 yrs....nice, friendly people, not very competitive with each other, and neighbors help each other when needed. The town is maintained well and is secure. OT is relatively sports-oriented and it helps (socially) if at least one kid (or adult) in the family is involved in sports, but it is not a necessity. The shopping center has most basics and there are several very good restaurants in nearby towns. The schools are very solid (lots of resources at the high school, for example) but there are quite a number of mediocre teachers at every level and the High School has issues similar to many other suburban schools. Overall, our kids and family have had fun here, made some lasting friends, and lived happily. I would move here again if I had the choice.

Great neighborhood with great people and a lot of community involvement. There are frequent activities at Stonepoint Park for special events. There is also a great athletics program for students (intramural sports). Overall, the town is safe and very friendly with a great public school, Northern Valley Regional High School of Old Tappan.
Old Tappan is a great, family-friendly town to live in. The public schools are amazing, it's safe, and it's very close to a big city without having the noise and over-population of being in a big city.
